Yard of the Month Archives

June 2009 - 2155 Barberry

The June Yard of the Month goes to Steve Day and Mark Watson at 2155 Barberry. Wonderful house, great choice of plants. The Austin stone of their 1940's cottage is complimented by the blue junipers near the house and mature magnolias at the street. Along with different varieties of plants in the flower beds, take note of the star magnolia -- great specimen tree. The whole ensemble is crisp, clean and well manicured, with an emphasis on drought tolerant choices. Great job, guys!

May 2009 - 1334 Stevens Ridge

The Yard of the Month selection this month was awarded to Leslie Maurer at 1334 Stevens Ridge. Good job, Les-lie! Her garden design and choice of drought tolerant species completely compliment her wonderful mid-century house design. The yard includes several differ-ent plant species, including an unusual Pacificum and a beautiful red Salviae. Probably one of the most notable plants is a great Mexican Bird of Paradise -- a wonderful selection for our Texas Climate. Stop by for a look and enjoy!

April 2009 - 2241 Colorado

Spring is definitely here. Please take a moment to go by 2241 Colorado to enjoy April's Yard of the Month. Home-owners Maricela and Henry Rosales have done a great job in their garden. While many of the plants were put in last year, this spring's showing is spectacular. The beds fea-ture azaleas, roses, and irises, as well as several varieties of Japanese maple trees. Even the grass is wonder-ful. The secret, according to Henry, is Miracle Grow!

August 2008 - 1215 Walter

This red brick ranch style home with it's unusual mortar is the perfect background for the well manicured lawn and tastefully landscaped yard. This beautiful home is the perfect oasis to enjoy a glass of iced tea or two in this Texas heat.

July 2008 - 2319 Lawndale

During any season of the year you would be hard pressed to find a day when the lawn at 2319 Lawndale is anything less than impeccable. The homeowners take great pride in their yard and the lush, carpet-like grass is always green and looks inviting. The Austin stone house is framed by perpetually green Holly and Oleander bushes which really distinguish the charm. The young Maple tree in the front yard is the icing on the cake and its annual growth improves the front lawn each year.

January 2007 - 2122 Barberry

This yard is always immaculate. The design is simple but effective, complemented by the lions and potted shrubs on the front porch. The maintenance on this yard is such that a leaf would think twice about falling on it!

December 2006 - 2230 Lawndale

A very well kept front yard backed by beautiful variegated shrubs is what catches the eye here. We applaud the effort of keeping a yard looking this nice in the Winter.
