Stephens Park Village

Our People

At the core of Stevens Park Village are our residents. After all, people bring the “unity” in “community.” For the sum of its parts, SPV houses diverse individuals.

“My husband and I built this house. It was one of the first on Colorado. Right there, where the apartments ant high-rise are…those were barracks for our fighting men and families back in the war. The land here was undeveloped, and cheap, so we bought the lot and custom built the house. We raised two children here…they were friends with all the kids in the neighborhood. Young families back then. Now I’ve gotten to see more young people moving in to the houses…fixing them up, you know. It’s nice to see.” – Mrs. P, Colorado

“We moved here because the homes were big, and my wife is pregnant with our second child. Our son loves his new school and we want to raise our family here.” – Juan, Fullerton

“I just love Stevens Park Village. I looked around a lot, since my business is based out of my home, I wanted space enough for living and working. Oak Cliff was my target, but I canvassed the different neighborhoods until my Realtor brought me here. Drew up papers the same day.” -- D, Leander

“A lot of our work on our house was pristine for the interior. The floors, kitchen, extra living space…renovations were great. So the focus was on the backyard. Have you tried putting in a pool in the Cliff? Dig a few feet and you find the cliff is rock! But the project was completed early and now our backyard is the lovely retreat we’d always dreamed of.” – J, Walter

“I’d say no one loves SPV more than I do, but I’m afraid Max would disagree with me. He loves the trees and the beautiful lawns. When we are walking through the neighborhood we just can’t get enough of the outdoors. I work in North Dallas, just a bunch of concrete and steel. So when we make our way around, it’s like we are in another whole world. I’m afraid without his leash, I’d never get him back inside our house!” – Teri, Lawndale

“I can see the skyline of Dallas right out of my back porch. I wouldn’t live anywhere else.” – Terrence, Barberry

Residents host special events throughout the year, and the SPV Neighborhood Association, led by its Board, also hold festivities to garner involvement. Our annual events include: Holiday Yard Decorating contest, Yard-of-the-Month series, Around-the-World on Leander buffet, Winter Holiday Progressive Dinner, Annual National Night Out, SPV-wide Annual Yard Sale, and an Arbor-Awareness Event, where our neighborhood participates in tree-plantings help replenish Oak Cliff’s beloved urban forest.
